Switzerland isn’t just a destination for me, it’s home. Even though I’ve traveled far and wide, there’s something about the air here, the crispness of the Alps, the smell of melted cheese and pine trees, that instantly grounds me. Born in Switzerland, I’ve been lucky to experience the country both as a local and a traveler, and every visit feels like rediscovering a part of myself. Zurich, my gateway city, is where modern Switzerland shows its sleekest face. It's businesslike by day, buzzing with banks and innovation, but surprisingly vibrant once you scratch the surface. I’ve wandered along the Bahnhofstrasse, one of the world’s most exclusive shopping streets, ducked into quiet art galleries in Kreis 5, and caught sunsets over Lake Zurich with gelato in hand. Zurich’s food scene is thriving, from traditional Zürcher Geschnetzeltes to creative Michelin-starred surprises. And I’ll never get tired of hopping on a tram and watching the city’s calm precision unfold like clockwork. From city to mountains, Grindelwald is the definition of an alpine dream. Nestled in the Bernese Alps, it's one of my favorite places to reconnect with nature and breathe deeply. In winter, I’ve skied the runs beneath the Eiger’s towering north face, and in summer, I’ve hiked for hours through wildflower-dotted meadows where cowbells echo in the distance. The First Cliff Walk gave me one of the most exhilarating views I’ve ever experienced, standing on a suspended walkway, surrounded by glaciers and silence. Grindelwald has a raw beauty that humbles you, no matter how many times you visit. Not far away is Interlaken, perfectly placed between lakes Thun and Brienz. It’s long been a hub for adventurers, and for good reason. I’ve paraglided over the turquoise lakes, rafted wild rivers, and hiked trails that make you feel like you’re in a movie. There’s always an energy in Interlaken, maybe it’s the adrenaline in the air, or maybe it’s the people who gather here from all over the world to chase peaks and thrills. When I needed to wind down, I’d take a lake cruise or just grab rösti at a chalet-style restaurant with a view of the Jungfrau massif. Then there’s Montreux, my lakeside escape on the shores of Lake Geneva. It feels almost Mediterranean here, with palm trees lining the promenade and jazz music drifting from open cafés. I’ve spent evenings sipping local wine from Lavaux’s vineyards, and mornings exploring Chillon Castle, one of the most stunning historic sites in the country. Montreux also knows how to put on a show, the Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the best I’ve attended, blending world-class music with mountain views that leave you speechless.Switzerland is an outdoor playground in every season. In winter, I live for the slopes, whether it's carving fresh powder in the Jungfrau region, snowshoeing through silent forests, or sipping mulled wine after a day on the pistes. And when the snow melts, the hiking begins. Some of my most memorable adventures have come with a backpack, hiking hut-to-hut across ridgelines where ibex graze and glaciers glitter in the distance. And the trains? Pure magic. Nowhere else is getting around part of the experience like it is here. I’ve taken the Glacier Express and the GoldenPass Line, curling through valleys and over viaducts with scenery so beautiful it doesn’t look real. It’s slow travel at its finest—every window a painting, every ride a memory.Swiss cuisine might surprise you. Yes, there’s fondue and raclette (which I adore), but there’s also creamy Zuger Kirschtorte, fresh lake fish, buttery rosti, and robust mountain cheeses you won’t find anywhere else. Add in regional wines, crisp and minerally from alpine terroirs, and you’ve got a culinary scene that’s as diverse as the landscape.Switzerland isn’t just where I’m from, it’s where I go to feel most alive. It’s a country that invites you to explore, to breathe deeper, to slow down. And every time I return, I find something new to fall in love with all over again.

Traveling through Panama was like moving through a living tapestry, each destination revealing another layer of culture, color, and connection. Often known to the world simply for the Panama Canal, this country is so much more than a global shipping route. It’s a place where continents meet, where nature is raw and majestic, and where every corner offers a completely different experience. My journey took me from highland towns and tropical islands to the Atlantic coast and the beating heart of international commerce.I began where Panama's story meets the world: the Panama Canal. Seeing it in person was surreal, massive cargo ships gliding through narrow locks with astonishing precision. Standing at the Miraflores Locks, I marveled at this 50-mile waterway that has connected the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans since 1914. It’s a masterpiece of engineering that continues to shape global trade and geopolitics. But what struck me even more was the human side of it, the generations of Panamanians whose lives have been tied to the Canal, and the cultural melting pot that formed around it. Panama City, just nearby, buzzes with skyscrapers, history, and a cosmopolitan flair, but the Canal felt like the country’s deep pulse, a reminder of its past, present, and future. From the capital, I headed west to Boquete, a mountain town wrapped in clouds and coffee farms. Tucked in the Chiriquí Highlands, Boquete’s air was crisp and cool, and the landscape, a patchwork of green slopes and flower-lined paths, was a balm to the senses. I visited one of the famed Geisha coffee plantations, where I sipped some of the world’s most prized beans with notes so delicate, it felt like tasting poetry. Hiking in Boquete offered breathtaking views, especially around the trails leading to Volcán Barú, Panama’s highest point. It’s a town that feels both tranquil and alive, embraced by nature and steeped in pride. Not far from Boquete, I arrived in David, the commercial capital of western Panama. David may not be a typical tourist destination, but it holds its own importance. It’s practical, dynamic, and essential to Panama’s agricultural and transportation network. The markets were buzzing with fresh produce and chatter, and I found it a perfect place to catch my breath and see a side of Panama that often goes unseen, daily life in motion. The people were warm, and the food simple and hearty, offering a genuine taste of the country’s everyday soul.I then traveled north to the Atlantic side and arrived in Colón, a city with both challenges and pride. Located at the Caribbean entrance of the Panama Canal, Colón plays a pivotal role in global commerce, thanks to its massive Free Trade Zone. The city has faced tough economic times, but its cultural vibrancy, especially its deep Afro-Caribbean roots, is impossible to miss. I explored the nearby San Lorenzo Fort, a crumbling yet magnificent relic guarding the Chagres River, and wandered the colonial streets of Portobelo, once the stage of pirate tales and Spanish treasure fleets. The spiritual heartbeat of the region, the annual Black Christ Festival, reflects the resilience and rich identity of Colón's people. For the final chapter of my trip, I headed to the dreamy archipelago of Bocas del Toro. Reaching Bocas Town by boat felt like entering a postcard. Wooden houses painted in pastels lined the waterfront, reggae and calypso floated through the air, and the pace slowed to something almost spiritual. I spent my days snorkeling coral reefs, kayaking through mangroves, and lounging on picture-perfect beaches like Red Frog and Starfish Beach. Nature here is unfiltered, sloths hanging from trees, dolphins dancing in the sea, and the warm hospitality of locals who embody “island time” in the best way.As I reflect on this journey, each destination left a distinct mark on my memory, the global reach of the Panama Canal, the misty magic of Boquete, the humble strength of David, the history and heartbeat of Colón, and the Caribbean soul of Bocas del Toro. Together, they shaped a portrait of Panama that is rich, layered, and deeply human.Panama isn’t just a place on the map, it’s a place that invites you to slow down, look deeper, and feel the rhythm of a nation bridging worlds.
