Switzerland isn’t just a destination for me, it’s home. Even though I’ve traveled far and wide, there’s something about the air here, the crispness of the Alps, the smell of melted cheese and pine trees, that instantly grounds me. Born in Switzerland, I’ve been lucky to experience the country both as a local and a traveler, and every visit feels like rediscovering a part of myself. Zurich, my gateway city, is where modern Switzerland shows its sleekest face. It's businesslike by day, buzzing with banks and innovation, but surprisingly vibrant once you scratch the surface. I’ve wandered along the Bahnhofstrasse, one of the world’s most exclusive shopping streets, ducked into quiet art galleries in Kreis 5, and caught sunsets over Lake Zurich with gelato in hand. Zurich’s food scene is thriving, from traditional Zürcher Geschnetzeltes to creative Michelin-starred surprises. And I’ll never get tired of hopping on a tram and watching the city’s calm precision unfold like clockwork. From city to mountains, Grindelwald is the definition of an alpine dream. Nestled in the Bernese Alps, it's one of my favorite places to reconnect with nature and breathe deeply. In winter, I’ve skied the runs beneath the Eiger’s towering north face, and in summer, I’ve hiked for hours through wildflower-dotted meadows where cowbells echo in the distance. The First Cliff Walk gave me one of the most exhilarating views I’ve ever experienced, standing on a suspended walkway, surrounded by glaciers and silence. Grindelwald has a raw beauty that humbles you, no matter how many times you visit. Not far away is Interlaken, perfectly placed between lakes Thun and Brienz. It’s long been a hub for adventurers, and for good reason. I’ve paraglided over the turquoise lakes, rafted wild rivers, and hiked trails that make you feel like you’re in a movie. There’s always an energy in Interlaken, maybe it’s the adrenaline in the air, or maybe it’s the people who gather here from all over the world to chase peaks and thrills. When I needed to wind down, I’d take a lake cruise or just grab rösti at a chalet-style restaurant with a view of the Jungfrau massif. Then there’s Montreux, my lakeside escape on the shores of Lake Geneva. It feels almost Mediterranean here, with palm trees lining the promenade and jazz music drifting from open cafés. I’ve spent evenings sipping local wine from Lavaux’s vineyards, and mornings exploring Chillon Castle, one of the most stunning historic sites in the country. Montreux also knows how to put on a show, the Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the best I’ve attended, blending world-class music with mountain views that leave you speechless.Switzerland is an outdoor playground in every season. In winter, I live for the slopes, whether it's carving fresh powder in the Jungfrau region, snowshoeing through silent forests, or sipping mulled wine after a day on the pistes. And when the snow melts, the hiking begins. Some of my most memorable adventures have come with a backpack, hiking hut-to-hut across ridgelines where ibex graze and glaciers glitter in the distance. And the trains? Pure magic. Nowhere else is getting around part of the experience like it is here. I’ve taken the Glacier Express and the GoldenPass Line, curling through valleys and over viaducts with scenery so beautiful it doesn’t look real. It’s slow travel at its finest—every window a painting, every ride a memory.Swiss cuisine might surprise you. Yes, there’s fondue and raclette (which I adore), but there’s also creamy Zuger Kirschtorte, fresh lake fish, buttery rosti, and robust mountain cheeses you won’t find anywhere else. Add in regional wines, crisp and minerally from alpine terroirs, and you’ve got a culinary scene that’s as diverse as the landscape.Switzerland isn’t just where I’m from, it’s where I go to feel most alive. It’s a country that invites you to explore, to breathe deeper, to slow down. And every time I return, I find something new to fall in love with all over again.

Visiting Costa Rica was a journey that awakened every one of my senses, lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, active volcanoes, and a pulse of life that seemed to dance in the air itself. Each city and region I explored offered something unique, weaving together a tapestry of nature, culture, and pura vida spirit that I’ll never forget. My adventure began in San José, the capital city nestled in the Central Valley and surrounded by mountains and coffee plantations. While many travelers rush through, I took my time exploring this dynamic urban hub. I visited the National Theatre, a stunning architectural gem reminiscent of a European opera house. Wandering through the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, I was fascinated by Costa Rica’s indigenous past and the incredible craftsmanship of ancient civilizations. The city buzzes with local markets, and the Mercado Central quickly became a favorite of mine, where I sipped strong Costa Rican coffee, tasted gallo pinto, and chatted with friendly vendors. San José gave me my first glimpse of Costa Rica’s heart and soul, modern, lively, and proud of its roots. From there, I made my way to Heredia, a charming and quieter counterpart to the capital. Known as the “City of Flowers,” Heredia charmed me with its colonial architecture, clean air, and the beautiful backdrop of coffee fields rolling over emerald hills. I toured the Café Britt coffee plantation, which was not just informative but incredibly fun, complete with tastings that elevated my appreciation for every cup I’ve ever had. Heredia’s pace was more relaxed, and its colonial streets and friendly residents made me feel like I’d stepped into an earlier time. I especially loved the Heredia Central Park with its iconic church and local vibe. It was the perfect place to slow down and watch the world go by.One of the true highlights of my trip was my journey to Arenal, home to the majestic Arenal Volcano, which towers over the landscape like a sentinel. The volcano, once one of the most active in the world, now rests quietly, but its presence is undeniable. I stayed in the town of La Fortuna, a cozy, vibrant village full of adventurers and nature lovers. From here, I embarked on a variety of unforgettable experiences: zip-lining through the rainforest canopy, hiking the Arenal 1968 Trail with views of ancient lava flows, and soaking in the mineral-rich waters of the Tabacón Hot Springs. At night, the silhouette of Arenal against the star-studded sky took my breath away. The area also treated me to lush waterfalls, including the powerful La Fortuna Waterfall, which I reached after a steep but rewarding descent. My Costa Rican exploration wouldn't have been complete without immersing myself in one of the country’s most important ecosystems, Palo Verde National Park. This hidden gem in the northwestern Guanacaste province is a sanctuary for biodiversity and a dream for birdwatchers. I joined a boat tour along the Tempisque River, where I witnessed crocodiles basking on the banks, white-faced capuchin monkeys swinging through the trees, and roseate spoonbills gliding across the water. Palo Verde is a rare floodplain ecosystem, and its wetlands attract thousands of migratory birds each year. It felt like I had stumbled upon a secret world where nature still ruled. There was a sacred stillness in the air, broken only by the calls of howler monkeys or the splash of a heron taking flight.Throughout my time in Costa Rica, I was struck by how the country balances its natural riches with a deep commitment to conservation and sustainability. Whether I was hiking volcanic trails, sipping espresso in a colonial plaza, or gliding silently through a mangrove forest, I felt the profound harmony between people and the land.Costa Rica wasn’t just a trip, it was a full immersion into a land of contrasts: cloud forests and sunny plains, bustling capitals and quiet parks, volcanic energy and peaceful lagoons. And at every turn, I was met with the warm hospitality of locals who greeted me with a smile and a hearty “¡pura vida!”—a phrase that means more than just “pure life.” It’s a way of life, a mindset, and the beating heart of this incredible country.I left Costa Rica filled with stories, serenity, and a renewed connection to the natural world. It’s the kind of place that leaves footprints on your soul.
