When Ashley and I got married back in 2007, we knew we wanted a honeymoon that would be unforgettable — but we had no idea it would also shape the course of our lives. We booked our first-ever cruise on Freedom of the Seas, setting sail for the Eastern Caribbean, and what started as a once-in-a-lifetime trip quickly became the beginning of a lifelong love affair with travel, adventure, and cruising.Why We Chose a Cruise for Our Honeymoon. At the time, cruising felt like the perfect choice. It was one booking that took care of everything: beautiful destinations, endless activities, great food, and the chance to wake up somewhere new every morning — all without the stress of constant packing and unpacking.It was also incredibly economical — especially for two early twenty-somethings setting off on their first solo international adventure together. We were able to see multiple islands, experience new cultures, and enjoy an amazing honeymoon without worrying about complicated logistics or breaking our budget. Our itinerary took us to some of the most stunning places in the Caribbean: St. Thomas, St. Maarten, San Juan, and Labadee. Each day brought new adventures.In St. Thomas, we tried one of our favorite excursions to this day — the Rhino Riders, a thrilling and fun way to explore the crystal-clear waters around the island.In San Juan, we took a memorable sightseeing tour that introduced us to the rich culture, history, and vibrant streets of Old San Juan.Every port gave us another story to tell and another memory to treasure. New Experiences Together Onboard, we embraced everything Freedom of the Seas had to offer. We chose traditional dining for our dinners, and it was an experience we absolutely loved. Each night, we sat down in the beautiful main dining room, enjoying multi-course meals and tasting dishes neither of us had ever tried before. It became a highlight of our evenings — slowing down, trying something new together, and making every meal a mini adventure in itself.How That One Trip Shaped Our Future, Looking back now, it’s easy to see how that first cruise planted the seeds for everything Travel By Trinidad has become today.
