Cruising he Rhine River With Avalon Waterways
Cruising the Rhine with Avalon Waterways was a fantastic experience. We flew into Amsterdam and stayed at the Marriott for one night. We did some exploring and went to the Anne Franke House and then had a lovely dinner near bye.
The following morning we boarded the Avalon Envision and spent the morning on the ship. After lunch we did an excursion to Zanse Schans and enjoyed the countryside and windmills. We then went back to the ship for happy hour which was every night. Then we went to dinner.
The following morning we took a canal cruise and went to a diamond factory. We then went back to the ship for lunch and then set sail for Cologne arriving the following day. We had a walking tour and ended at the Cathedral. We then sat at a cafe and enjoyed the view.
The next day we were Rudesheim and went to the Music Museum. After that they took us to a restaurant where they made coffee. We then did some exploring on our own and then walked back to the ship.
The next day we were in Heidelberg for the castle which was fantastic. We had lunch in the castle and then a walking tour of the town which was charming. We sat at a cafe at the end waiting for the bus to take us back to the ship.
The following day we were in Strasbourg and had a walking tour. We went to Le Petit France and also saw the Cathedral. We then went back to the ship for lunch. After lunch we took the bus into town and sat at a cafe in the square with a view of the Cathedral.
We went back to the ship and had a relaxing evening. The next day we were in the black forest and went to a little village. The ship stopped in Freiburg. We had lunch there and went back to the ship.
This was our last day. The next day we got off the ship in Basel and spent the night there. We had fun exploring this lovely city. The next day we picked up the car rental and drove to Zurich and spent the day here. The following day we flew home.
I highly recommend a river cruise with Avalon. Most excursions are included. There is happy hour every day. Wine and beer as well as soft drinks are included with lunch and dinner.
