I enjoyed an amazing 8-night cruise on Azamara Quest in June 2022 on a Spain Intensive Itinerary. In depth exploration of a destination are a hallmark of Azamara Cruise Line, which offers longer stays in ports, and even overnight stays which allow guests to experience a destination late into the evening, when a city really comes alive.

On this particular itinerary, we enjoyed an overnight stay in Seville, Spain, where we experienced a private tapas tour guide by an elegant and charming flamenco dancer. As we dined and drank wine in local establishments, she explained the origins of flamenco and the role it plays in the culture of Andulusia. We then viewed a moving performance of flamenco in a small, intimate venue. I loved how our cruise itinerary gave us access to this cultural experience, beyond the typical rushed and crowded shore excursion that is limited to daytime hours.

The onboard experience with Azamara is excellent across the board. It's a classic, elegant ship, carrying less than 700 passengers. It's the perfect size, in my opinion. Large enough to offer amenities such as a fitness center, pool deck, multiple restaurants, and entertainment.  But small enough that the crew gets to know the passengers, and the passengers get to know each other and become friends. Luxurious without being pretentious, Azmara's country club casual atmosphere feels very comfortable so guests quickly feel at home. 

One of the most valued events on any Azmara cruise is the White Night party. With guests dressed in all white attire, the crew sets up a lavish feast on the pool deck. Food is served by the ship's officers, and the drinks are flowing. As the sun sets, the guests join the ship's singers and dancers on the dance floor to party into the twilight. It's a highlight event, that takes supreme effort from the crew to set up and break down, but it's a party that will be long appreciated and fondly remembered by the guests.

A cruise with Azamara is an excellent choice for travelers who enjoy the convenience and comfort of cruising, but also appreciate an in-depth experience in a destination.
