Everest Base Camp: A Life-Changing Adventure Standing atop Mt Everest Base Camp 2018

Everest Base Camp: A Life-Changing Adventure

Trekking to Mt. Everest Base Camp was one of the most awe-inspiring, humbling experiences of my life. Over the course of 20 days, I hiked through Nepal’s Khumbu Valley alongside my father, winding through rhododendron forests, over swinging suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags, and up into the icy altitude of the Himalayas.

Each morning began with the sounds of yak bells and distant murmurs of other trekkers gearing up for the day. The crisp mountain air was filled with the earthy scent of pine and the smoky aroma of fires burning in the tea houses. We stayed in small, family-run lodges, sipping hot ginger tea while watching snow flurries dance around the peaks outside our window.

One of the most unforgettable moments was arriving at Base Camp itself. Standing at 17,598 feet, surrounded by towering white giants like Nuptse and the Khumbu Icefall, I felt both incredibly small and immensely proud. We arrived on a perfectly clear day, and the sun reflecting off the glaciers made everything feel otherworldly.

Along the way, we visited ancient monasteries, spun prayer wheels for good luck, and connected with fellow travelers from all over the world. The physical challenge was real, long days of hiking, steep ascents, and the ever-present effects of altitude, but the emotional reward was even greater.

This journey wasn’t just a trek; it was a transformative adventure that pushed me beyond my comfort zone and gifted me memories I’ll carry for life.

Whether you're dreaming of high-altitude adventure, cultural immersion, or a meaningful bonding trip, I’d love to help you plan an unforgettable trek through Nepal.

First of many International Trips!
Asia invited us on a group trip to join her on a river cruise. Me and my husband had never been out of the country, let alone on a cruise, but after seeing the itinerary and amenities we signed up! Asia did a fantastic job of keeping us informed and sent reminders when it was time for booking flights and getting passports. While on the trip I had the added bonus of Asia being there so we were able to explore more while we were off ship! I will definitely book more river cruises and international travel with Asia in the future!
