Private Tour: Exploring The Yucatan State
Private guided tour of Holbox, Cenote Choj-Ha and Valladolid
I had the most amazing time exploring the hidden gems of Yucatan State with a small private tour guide from Playa Del Carmen! From the breathtaking beauty of Holbox Island, to the stunning Cenote Choj-Ha: the Cathedral of Wonders, and finally to the colorful streets of Valladolid, I'm truly in awe with the history and culture and all the wonderful memories we created.
I learned that not everything goes as planned but when you are in paradise make the most of it and have fun regardless!
1st stop Holbox Island. This Tiny island is a couple hours north of Cancun and is know for its laidback vibe along with the beautiful beaches and sunshine. Unfortunately, we did not get to experience the strolling around and the beaches due to the heavy rainfall we encountered! But what an adventure it was!
There are no cars on Isla Holbox (except a few work trucks), which means you have to either rent a bike or a golf cart to travel around. But it is small enough to walk around as well! I am looking forward to returning to fully experience the laidback vibe and beaches Holbox is known for! With the heavy rain we decided not to spend the day on the island, so we headed inland to do some exploring!
Second stop of the day was at Cenote Choj-Ha: the cathedral of wonders. This is just a few miles out of Chemax in the Yucatan state with a very cool story behind this cenote! Jose’s grandfather was a farmer and used to gather water for the animals through a small hole in the ground using a bucket. He then later decided to widen the hole to get to more water and discovered a beautiful wonder of nature!! Roughly 8 years ago they opened it up to allow the public to experience the cathedral of wonders! The cost is 100 pesos per person. It is a beautiful cenote 60 feet underground and is up to 90 feet deep in areas. We spent some time swimming in this stunning cenote and taking in the beauty of it!
Our last stop of the tour was Valladolid in Yucatan! Valladolid is off the beaten path and offers an opportunity to experience authentic Mayan culture and history you just can’t find in other areas. En route to the third biggest city in the Yucatan, we stopped to buy some fruit from a little family stand. Bag of peeled Oranges and a bag of tangerines with home-made chilli powder, sweet with the heat!
We went to the downtown plaza in Valladolid for lunch at El Atrio del Mayab. Enjoyed their Margarita Maya and some local cuisine! The location was right next to Iglesia de San Servicio, the cathedral of Valladolid. We also visited the Convent de San Bernardino de Siena. This was constructed between 1552 and 1560 and served as a fortress and a church. The walled grounds hold a cenote as well. There is a small exhibit about artifacts found in the Cenote under the convent. Valladolid is great place to stop for Yucatan cuisine, the history and to experience the culture of a true Mexican town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our private tour with Monica. It did not go as planned originally due to the rain, but she was awesome in changing as needed and ensuring we had an amazing time. I look forward to the next adventure with her!

Incredible Experience!
We had not been on an internation trip in 10 years and Val made it a complete sucess for us. She gave us informed and honest feedback with all of our questions regarding the type of resort as well as conherent and fast reponses to all of our questions before, during, and after the trip. We went to the Playa Del Carmen area near Tulum and we had the best time. The resort we chose through her suggestions was outstanding and we have no complaints whatsoever. She helped us stay informed during a dicey time politically in Mexico and gave us the confidence we needed that should anything become unceratin, that she had the our backs and could help us get to where we needed to be. That being said, there were no safety concerns or feelings of uncertainty during our stay in Mexico.

Mexico all inclusive stay
Tho I have no other experience with an all inclusive resort I found the staff to be friendly and fun while I practiced my Spanish language skills with them and learned new vocabulary. At the dinners the servers were so fun and helpful when it came to suggestions. I even eat the chocolate grasshopper.
What I would have liked to have know before going to the resort was the barcelo fb page. I learned a lot from the feed. I definitely recommend the adult resort as we had more space and we had chairs available for everyone whether it be at the pool or at the beach. We also had the best beach no rocks only rocks in the water. The quieter setting was so relaxing. Having the freedom to explore the other 5 resorts and play at the casino shop at the mall made the stay feel a little adventurous while staying at one resort.

Premium Southeast Asia
We went on a 24 day guided tour and also 10 days afterward on our own. The guided tour was thru Intrepid (Premium) and was amazing. We went to Phuket after the tour and spent 10 days booked thru EXO. It also was lovely.

Travelling to Tahiti, French Polynesia and embarking on a 7 day Windstar Cruise was truly amazing. The smaller but still lavishly outfitted cruise ship is the only way to go. Crew members aboard the ship developed very personal connections with the passengers. All the excursions really did allow everyone to touch, feel, and see the local cultures. Everything went very smoothly and we were quite pleased with the resort. It met or exceeded all expectations. The family room was perfect and very spacious. I think we ended up with the best room in the resort location wise! The resort offered excellent activities, food options were good, staff were very friendly. Japan Was Great
Japan - loved everything we saw. Had a great guide. Did not struggle with the activity level. We both acknowledge that it was easier to navigate in Japan with a guide, no question about that. The itinerary was very good except for the volcano at Lake Hakone - not super interesting but all else was great. Love staying at the monastery, loved Kyoto etc. So all good.

The best planned short road trip I’ve ever taken
Val was a wonderful discovery for me because it was just a random connection on the Internet. And it proved to be very very fruitful. I have already recommended Val to several friends who are hoping to travel in Canada soon the trip suggestions and arrangements she made for us were absolutely by following her recommendations and based on her experience, she made reservations in the two most heavily trafficked attractions the Columbia ice fields and a boat rate dried on the lake. Our driver to the resort was on time and pleasant. Checking into the hotel HARD ROCK MAYAN was fast and refreshing, by giving us guest rewards to activities. My family and I loved the resort. Absolutely no complaints and our vacation was unforgettable.
A little alarming when it was time to get a hold of our drive back to the airport. Hard to contact the company’s personnel. And everyone in the front outside lobby “valet” personal acted like they had no idea of our bus or the schedule. But got it all sorted and luckily the bus was waiting for us.

Sisters trip to Mahekal Beach Resort, Playa Del Ca
We contacted Val for some suggestions for our trip. We knew which side of the country we wanted to be on, other than that we knew what we wanted, but had no idea how to find what would check our boxes. After two conversations Val had a couple of suggestions, one of which nailed it!!!! Everything was seamless and went smoothly.The resort itself is beautiful! The grounds are stunning and there are so many pathways to explore. It's right on the beach and also within easy walking distance to some really cool shopping areas. The staff were absolutely amazing and extremely helpful. There were only two restaurants, but the food was great! The menu at the buffet changed frequently so we felt we had lots of variety. There are four pool/ beach bars so plenty of places to get a margarita or a Pina colada! And service on the beach was great. This is a family friendly resort with 24 hour security which I would highly recommend.

A much needed vacation...
A much needed vacation in a beautiful resort ! Seriously though.. What a beautiful spot !! The rooms were super spacious & I swear every room on that resort has at least somewhat of an ocean view. We originally had plans to do some excursions but we were more than comfortable to relaxing around the resort for the week, having some good food, drinking some good drinks ??. Staff were all super fun & made you want to hang around !
Entry & exit was really easy. All the information you sent had us more than prepared for sure. Thanks for following up & setting everything up for us - We both had a blast ?? !

Hard Rock
Our trip was great despite the few hiccups of delays out of Kelowna, delayed luggage, but... The hard rock was excellent. We enjoyed the many pools. We’d pick a different one each day. Our room - Islander Jr suite with 2kings was perfect for our family of 4. I’m so glad we waited for that! The Hard Rock had the the best food I’ve ever had at an all inclusive. Everything was so fresh. Kids enjoyed the waterpark, mini golf, arcades etc. I really don’t think there was anything that could have been improved on. All in all it was a huge success! Thank you for everything!!! Can’t wait til next time!

Fantastic vacation
We LOVED Huatulco! The resort itself, Secrets, was fantastic. The rooms are in three separate buildings, all built into the side of a hill, all facing the ocean, so they all have the same stunning view. The drinks flowed freely and we had fantastic service! The food was great and service was better! The beach is quite steep, but the view is phenomenal! They hung a Happy Anniversary banner on our door the first day or so, and we got pampered the whole time we were there with rose petals or other flowers arranged on the bed most days. All-in-all, it was a fantastic vacation.

I would like to say that one of the most memorable parts of our destination wedding was having YOU! It was so nice to have someone there to help coordinate everyone and keep everything on track and organized for the guests! Also thank you very much for the gift, it was super thoughtful and a nice little touch to our special day! My maid of honor opened it for me on the wedding day while we were in the room gathering things I needed to get ready in her room , and if I had opened it myself I think I would have probably cried (I was very emotional all day - haha). It was a blast!
I had a really great time at the RIU resort in Mazatlan. The staff at the resort were very nice and helpful if I had a question or needed help. I also met a lot of other Canadians and had a great time, we exchanged info and plan to keep in touch. The two weeks went by so fast before I knew it it was over. I also went for walks most days. We had an amazing time, the boys loved it. The hotel was a great location, and our balcony overlooked Disney so we got a great view of the fireworks works each night they were displayed. Best all inclusive deal in Cancun
Val was extremely helpful with getting us a good deal for Planet Hollywood Cancun. We were able to get Star Class + Adult Zone which was much better than the deals we were finding on our own. The resort was great and we enjoyed all the amenities and restaurants. I would highly recommend getting Star Class because you get special treatment and reservation privileges at the restaurants. Otherwise you will be waiting 1+ hours for dinner. Can’t wait to book with Val again for our next vacation!!

We just returned from 1 week holiday to Punta Cana. Val helped us with booking this trip and she coordinated it with our friends trip as well. She was very helpful throughout the hotel booking process and was able to utilize her contacts to arrange our desired room category that was not initially available. Prior to travel she provided an amazing app that contained all our necessary documents, information and links required for the journey. The start of our trip became a bit complicated as there were weather delays but she was in contact with us throughout that entire time. Val is awesome. We had some hiccups on our first few days, and the resort was not stepping up to assist, Val stepped in and shit happened!! We had top notch service after that. She's our go-to travel person. There is nothing left to question or worry about, and if there is, you just ask her and she takes care of it.

Val is very efficient, and knows her stuff. She is very thorough, explaining everything, answering all our questions. She has been there for us at midnight and 6:00 am. when we had issues. It feels like she follows our flights until we arrive safely in destination and back. Travel (especially now) can have hiccups and bumps with airlines, etc. Knowing that Val is there for us is a relief. While she sat on the phone for hours re-arranging our flights and accommodations, we went to the beach. Using a travel agent is a wonderful resource to have and Val is the best. In the last couple of years we have been fortunate to have Val handle 4 trips for us. She proved to be exceptional in getting us a wonderful experience at a reasonable cost. However, the true measure of customer service is not when things go smoothly., it is when there are problems. Our last two trips, one to Europe and the Mediterranean and the second to Mazatlan had to be cancelled. The first due to the death of an immediate family member on the second day of our trip, the the second due to Covid-19. Val was truly amazing! She was available 24/7, and handled everything for us in a very efficient way. I should mention that the cancellation of our Mazatland trip by Sun Wing, meant Val did not get her commission for all the work she did arranging the trip, then handling all the headaches associated with the cancellation. Of all the travel agents we have used over the years, Val Burnett is by far and above the best ever! We will not use anyone else now.

Val was very knowledgeable about the area I was going to visit, giving tips and ideas on what to do and how to go about things, Always on call if I had any problems (only one or two minor, but sorted quickly) The itinerary was "first class", never had one quite like it before, it included everything from flight timings, transfers to resorts and between resorts, trips planned, if restaurants needed prebooking, daily trips and updated travel rules, especially covid related as they are changing quite often, even letting you know the best place for testing, if needed. <br/>There was nothing left "in doubt", everything was covered, I didn't have to worry about anything except decide what I wanted to eat lol, never had such a stress free holiday, totally needed!

Couldn't Get Better!
Val goes the extra mile and with her, there is no scrambling and travel stress! We were able to rely on her.
