COVID Travel First-hand experience to Mexico
I have been asked lots as to whether it is safe to travel during the Pandemic. As an all-rounded travel agent, I have decided to venture onto the world to experience COVID first-hand. My in-person experience definitely has been of an asset as I address the concerns raised by my clients.
Here are some of the highlights:
At the Airport
Temperature checked and luggage loaded by ourselves to avoid as little contact as possible. Passengers are boarded by zone with the ones sitting at the back and window seats boarding first.
Onboard the plane
We were given a sanitization kit including gloves, water, pretzel, sanitizing gel, earbuds. The flight was about 70% occupied, and we have the whole row to ourselves. Normal service is suspended to avoid cross-contamination. The attendant assigns passengers to empty seats to try to allow middle empty seats whenever possible. Flight attendants are constantly monitoring if passengers are adhering to mask-wearing and social distancing protocol on the flight. Flight attendants all wore PPE for full protection of our health and safety.
Resort Transfer
We were transferred to the resort in a mini-van and our luggage was sprayed with an antibacterial agent prior to being loaded onto the van. There is Plexiglass separating the driver and the passengers. We only have 5 passengers in the van. We now need to confirm our return transfer using an app.
At the resort
Our luggage was sprayed and cleaned with an anti-bacterial agent and all guests are asked to step onto the sanitizer mat to minimize spread. During check-in, the temperature was taken to ensure we are symptom-free. Their staff is monitored daily via a temperature check. Guests and staff are all wearing their masks. Guests were given a travel kit (mask, sanitizer, and wipes). Guests now use their bracelets to open their rooms to minimize contact. Guests will now be viewing the menus via a QR code on their phone.
At the restaurants
Whenever possible, food is covered or being served. The temperature will be taken each time guests enter the restaurant along with sanitizing our hands. The servers all wore their masks and gloves. Guests are required to wear their masks when up and about getting their food. All the tables and chairs were being sanitized between guests and there are sanitization mats at all entrances. At a la carte restaurants, guests have plenty of distance between each other. Due to the low occupancy, social distancing has not been an issue!
At the Pool
The pool is busier in the afternoon. The pool bar is opened and drinks are served.
At the Public Areas
Due to the low occupancy, there are plenty of spaces to practice social distancing at the beach, and walkways around the resort. Sanitizing stations and mats can be found in most key entry areas.
Overall, I felt extremely safe on this journey and in fact, felt much safer than being at home. I have stayed at the Barcelo Maya Riviera - All Adult Only on my trip and site visited her sister complex as well as a number of resorts in Cancun (Iberostar, Secrets, Dreams, and Grand) so allow me to recommend the perfect value product for my clients. Fantastic vacations don't happen by accident
We have just returned from an amazing vacation that was organized by an outstanding agent, Katherine Poon. An amazing vacation
Good morning I am posting this review looking out the window with 4 inches of snow on the ground wishing I were still in Mexico!!!!We were a group of 8 that Katherine managed effortlessly. Our resort was TRS Coral in Mexico aprox 45 min from the cancun airport , all was well with the transfer, and we were met at the reception with champagne. Trip of a Lifetime
Dealing with Katherine was wonderful. Husband and I were looking for a ‘once in a lifetime” trip to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Several destinations were discussed and we decided on a Paul Gauguin South Pacific cruise with a 3 night stay in overwater bungalow in Bora Bora. Katherine was extremely prompt in answering any questions we had and provided detailed information. Unfortunately due to a medical issue we are unable to travel and therefore needed to cancel our trip, once again Katherine was extremely efficient in ensuring all details were handled in a timely manner. An amazing Eastern Europe River Cruise

Hi Katherine,
Thank you for another well planned and organized trip to Antigua for my Mom and I. We really appreciate the hard work you put in to make sure everything ran smoothly for us.
Pineapple Beach Club Antigua is wonderful! The rooms are clean and modern. The beach is sandy with very few rocks in the ocean.
There is a Cafe open from 6 am to 11 pm and over night they have an accessible coffee machine that dispenses all type of coffee. The food and drinks were great as well.
We had a very relaxing vacation.

About a year ago, Katherine helped us plan a "multi-generational" trip to Mexico. It was a complicated task to co-ordinate 3 different families that included 3 generations. Katherine listened to our needs and helped us navigate the multiple decisions that had to be made. She was patient, knowledgeable and efficient. Her response time to e-mails was outstanding and she took the time to make us a top priority in her busy schedule.
Unfortunately, just recently, 2 families had to cancel the upcoming trip due to unforeseen medical reasons. Katherine once again, stepped up to the plate and helped us make the necessary arrangements to cancel 2 out of 3 families in a time-efficient manner. A memorable Mediterranean Cruise
Time really flies! We started planning our vacation back in February 2025 and just returned in October — seven months of anticipation that turned into wonderful memories.

The food, hotel, and accommodation on this trip were all great for the price. The only downside was the poor water quality at the beach. Overall, we really enjoyed the resort. My travel agent did an excellent job with the arrangements,my husband had a big surprise with the belated birthday celebration. A big thanks to her for giving us such a wonderful holiday

Wonderful Family Vacation
Katherine helped us plan a wonderful family vacation to Maui, including flights, accommodations and car rental. She was very attentive to our wishes and responded quickly to all of our questions. Although there was a small hiccup when the airline changed one of our flights, Katherine helped us quickly re-book a new flight. She was even able to get the airline to waive our seat selection fee.
We returned from Maui 2 weeks ago. Everything went as planned. We were so pleased with our accommodations which exceeded our expectations. Katherine even arranged for a small gift to greet us when we arrived:)

We had so much fun!
We decided to change our destination rather short notice and Katherine got it all arranged for us quickly even though she was out of town. She went above and beyond by booking our before and after airport hotel rooms and making sure the parking for our vehicle was confirmed. She set us up with a private driver at our destination which got us to our resort very quickly and we weren't packed into a shuttle that would have taken longer. Saved our Expedia Nightmare!
We have booked several times through Katherine and have always had a great experience with great service…but this year I decided to be my own travel agent and book through Expedia…everything looked good with the booking…up until about just over 1 month until our trip when 1 of the airlines we were flying with, cancelled our return flight…I just didn’t know what to do and mass panic set in…when Expedia told us they had no business with the airline and we would have to figure it out in our own I called Katherine…she immediately dropped everything she was working on to assist with my cluster of a vacation…within 24hrs Katherine had resolved all the issues and saved our vacation! Super Katherine to the Rescue
I booked a return flight to Munich for a family gathering during Oktoberfest. Then Air Canada pilots threaten to strike 3 days before our departure (cue the scary music). I spent hours searching for other flights that I could cancel for any reason if the strike is averted. Trying to make sense of refund policies is completely impossible on your own!!! I gave up and called Katherine , who I have used several times in the past. Super Katherine came to the rescue! She found us a flight in the same dates , completely refundable. It was booked and paid for in less time than I spent on my search. I swear she is magic!

We don't know whom you scared when you had "words" with Viking, but on all our dining occasions in the speciality restaurants and "The Restaurant", we've been consistently shown to prime window tables. In Chef's Table, we were given the best seats in the house: a cozy corner banquette with a beautiful window view. We're giving you the credit!<br/>Our "celebration" occasions came full of lovely intentions by the staff with a spectacularly beautiful cake arrived, along with a bottle of bubbly. A stress-free vacation in Florence
I wanted to let you know our holiday in Florence was lovely. Our hotel was in a good spot for exploring the city and the staff at the hotel were great and the breakfast served by the hotel was very good, again staff was lovely and friendly. The private half-day walking tour that was arranged for us was very good, the guide was very personable and knowledgeable - it was a good intro to the city for my brother and sister-in-law who had never been to Florence before. There was no problem with the flights - long lay overs both directions but realize we didn't plan too far in advance for the trip so options became more limited. Phenomenal Job Planning our Group Vacation
First, I want to thank you for all your help with organizing our wonderful trip to Jamaica for us. Everything was great, we got all rooms next to each other. <br/><br/> <br/>The flight went smooth beginning with the chauffeured ride to the airport and back home safe and sound. The driver was excellent.<br/><br/>The resort itself (Luxury Bahia Principe) was unbelievable and amazing and the “all inclusive” is a great invention – food, drinks, entertainment, everything was marvellous. The restaurants and buffets were incredible. The pool and beach were very inviting.<br/><br/>We had a full day excursion visiting the Appleton Estates (rum factory), the Y-Falls and the Black River (crocodiles). It was truly an experience.<br/><br/> <br/>I highly recommend this resort. The weather was excellent.<br/><br/> Thank you again Katherine (from Rossi, Monaco & DeLellis family), you did a phenomenal job in planning our Jamaican vacation.

We took your advice to bring the Imodium, peptobismol and Advil, Advil and Imodium were used due to the heat case, the headache and the stomach, so we had confident with the food, you know this time we had two groups and book from two agencies, you booked us to reside just next to theirs, so it was convince for us to keep in touch. Best airport and travel preparedness advice!
Recently, I turned to my good friend, Katherine for some travel advice. As snowbirds, we typically drive south, but with the US land border closed to Canadians until Nov 8/21, we were once again having to fly. We had heard that arriving 2 hours prior to our flight, may not be enough time. I chose to contact my trusted friend, and travel agent, Katherine at Fun In Paradise Travel. Not only did Katherine recommend that we arrive at the airport, at least 3 hours before our flight, she also gave recommendations on several locations for COVID testing for travel. Katherine’s advice was bang on! We arrived 3 hours early and just made it to the gate in time for departure. On boarding, we were told the flight would be delayed as 45 passengers were still in customs. Thankfully with the advice of Katherine, we were not the ones holding up the plane or potentially missing our flight. Thanks again, Katherine!

My Mother and I were celebrating her 75th Birthday. First Vacation
Me and my group of friends just returned back from our vacation from Jamaica. We were there for a week and it was a blast. I've been planning to get away for some time, two years to be exact. Katherine is a customer of ours, I told her that i was looking at going somewhere warm for the holidays since I knew she was in the business. I was only hoping for suggestions from Katherine because I was afraid that it would be too expensive to book with an agent. I gave her a handful of destinations that we were interested in going to and all the questions we had in regards to visa entrees, passports, currencies, travel insurances, weather for this time of year, and excursions. Feeling overwhelmed as to where to start with planning our trip to Hawaii, Katherine made it easy and took off the pressures of doing all the planning like we normally do on trips. The only hiccup we had was with the pick up from the airport which had nothing to do with Katherine. And, once I told her what occurred, she was all over resolving the issue. Again, she took away any pressures so we could enjoy our trip. The hotel was awesome and glad she recommended it. We stayed at the Kona Sheraton. She had called to confirm a late check out for us and during that process, she managed to make sure we had a room overlooking the Manta Ray Bay. One word - AMAZING! We saw manta rays from our balcony...what a view...not to mention the view of the ocean and all the volcanic rock...love! Katherine checked in with us to make sure all was well which was great and very thoughtful! Everything went smoothly. I want to thank Katherine for being such a great agent!

I have never met anyone so on top of things like Katherine. She caught multiple errors I had made when filling out my information that would have been costly. Honeymoon Celebration
My husband and I recently got back from our honeymoon in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. We stayed at the Grand Bahia Príncipe. It was an amazing resort with great food and amazing service. Katherine helped so much from the beginning of the planning to ensure that we had the best honeymoon ever. She was very helpful and knowledgeable when it came to Jamaica as we were first time travellers to Jamaica. When our flight was turned back to Toronto for maintenance issues, Katherine was on the phone right away with Westjet checking on the status of our flight and ensuring that we had transportation to our resort once our flight landed after being delayed several hours. When I first contacted Katherine, she got back to me right away. She suggested a few destinations, and sent information on a few resorts. Once we determined St. Lucia as the island we wished to book, she sent through a few more resort options along with her own recommendations.<br/>Anytime I emailed her, she got right back to me with answers to my questions.<br/>Unfortunately, we had to cancel our booking and Katherine was very understanding and helpful. Memorable Graduation Experience
A group of buddies and I had just completed our undergraduate careers are were looking for a great trip to end things off. Katherine was our travel agent and she got us the complete package at the Grand Bahia Principe in Jamaica. Great family vacation
Thanks again for your assistance in planning our trip! I can tell you that the trip was amazing all round. Our flight there was smooth and there was virtually no waiting in the airport once we arrived - no line ups at all. <br/>My girls LOVED having the plunge pool and used it every day - they didn’t find it chilly at all. The extra expense for the plunge pool room was worth it for us. <br/>The food was great, the beach was amazing, and the staff was out of this world friendly. Some of them honestly went out of their way to do nice little things for us and we loved our time with them. There were a few staff who even recognized us from last year - it was like seeing old friends.<br/>The return flight was also smooth<br/>
