In April 2022, I had a wonderful nine-night stay in southern California. One of the highlights of the trip was three nights at the Montage Laguna Beach, a Forbes five-star resort. I was upgraded upon arrival to the best view in the house: the Ocean Surf King Room. I also received other complimentary amenities: daily breakfast for two, $100 resort credit, and late check-out. The service and food was top-notch. The room was very spacious at 500 square feet. The hotel itself is located atop a very scenic cliff above the Pacific Ocean. I highly recommend this hotel and am now obsessed with Montage Hotels & Resorts!

Here are some tips, in case you decide to stay:

1. If you are arriving from LAX airport, be sure to arrange for a driver to pick you up. LAX has a lot of construction going on, and you have to take a shuttle bus to get Lyft/Uber. I had the concierge pre-arrange a very professional driver in an SUV, who picked us up curbside at baggage claim and drove us for one and one half hours to the hotel (lots of LA traffic!).

2. Laguna Beach is a cute town, with lots of shops and restaurants. It's an artist community. Right across the street from the hotel is a little shopping center with good restaurants, a CVS pharmacy, and a grocery store. We went to the shopping center every day to pick up food. You can do take-out and bring it back to the hotel and eat on your balcony with spectacular ocean views!
