Summers in Florida can be brutal! Hot, humid, bugs... or maybe not! Due to pandemic concerns, we decided to cancel our dream vacation to Italy for our 30th wedding anniversary. :-( We had spent a lot of time planning the trip and after deciding to cancel, I was done with travel planning (pout, pout)... I said whatever we do for our summer anniversary trip had to be super easy and convenient with minimal effort on our part. 

We had visited Walt Disney World in 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020 and taken a Disney Cruise in 2021. Normally, we are a value resort or good neighbor resort type of family. So for our 30th anniversary, Walt Disney World is easy, convenient, minimal effort, and we upgraded to a moderate resort at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter with a water front room.

Hot: yes. It is hot in Florida in the summer. Drink lots of liquids. Pace yourself. You will see lots of spray bottles, spray fans, and personal neck fans that help keep you cool. There are water refill stations scattered around the park. Take a clear refillable water bottle with you!

Humid: yes. Always expect that afternoon rain in Florida. Go visit a live show. Enjoy Mickey's PhilharMagic. Any inside show or event around 3:00 in the afternoon is a great plan. Again, drink lots of fluids and pace yourself. 

Bugs: not really. You would be amazed at how few mosquitoes are at Walt Disney World which was built out of swamp land. There are articles and books on the history of Walt Disney and WDW. Walt hired one of the Panama Canal engineers to help design WDW and put in place natural deterrents to mosquitoes. Did you know that mosquitoes hate garlic? Are there bugs at WDW? Yes, but a lot fewer than you would expect.

We had a great 30th wedding anniversary at Walt Disney World in the summer time. When you are in the Disney bubble, things like heat and humidity are second to being in the Most Magical Place On Earth!
