Biking and Barging in Germany
I'm always up for a new travel experience, so when our friends suggested we all travel to the Moselle River region of Germany and experience a bike tour while sleeping and eating on a barge - I said "let's do it!". I'm so glad that I did. We booked the tour for the middle of September, knowing the weather would be nice and cool and the crowds would be smaller. When we arrived at the dock to board our barge, I was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful Dutch ship, the Zwaan (Swan in Dutch) that waited for us. It was old (early 1900s) but restored, with gleaming wood and fresh paint and a smiling crew of 4 lovely members waiting to greet us. Each couple was assigned a room - they were small but still had private baths and comfortable bunks. It was an adventure and I was ready for it! I fell in love with the barge immediately. After stowing our things, we met the other guests who would be our companions for the next week. There were 2 couples traveling together from Australia, a couple from Canada and the 6 of us from Colorado. The crew consisted of our captain, a lovely lady named Bridgette, our chef, Ingebor, our first mate, Noel and our bicycle guide Paul. They all hailed from Amsterdam and we got along famously. Ingebor served the BEST food I've had in years - every meal was a feast created in a tiny galley kitchen with the freshest ingredients sourced from local markets in each stop along the river.
Our days were filled with sunshine and biking through small villages, winding our way along the river banks and stopping to sample wine, tour old cathedrals, have picnic lunches and exploring castles. We pedaled along gaily, waving and calling "Guten Morgen" to each person we passed. Often, someone would start a rousing song that we all knew and would join in on, and we would peddle, laugh, sing and chat our way through 40-50 KM of river bank, pastoral lands, vineyards and villages. Life was good.
The last night of our tour we all gathered together in the family style dining room and raised a toast to our delightful hosts. Ingebor outdid herself with the meal that evening, and we all sang a beautiful Dutch ballad together - a ballad that reminded us that life is good, people are good, and gathering together as friends from across the globe is priceless. Tears were shed and emails and addresses exchanged as we departed for our homes the next morning. I may never see my new friends again, but I will always cherish them, and the memory of our time together, in my heart.

Great trip, Sandy made it very easy and enjoyable
We went on a trip to three different citied in Europe and did multiple tours and activities in each. I can't imagine not having Sandy to help line this up for us. Not only was it all set up, but detailed instructions along the way. This is much needed when you're in a place you've never been.

Amazing first trip to Europe
Having never been to Europe, I was struggling with where to start with all of our travel plans. I knew where we wanted to go: Paris, London, & Dublin - but was overwhelmed with flight, hotel and excursion options. A trip of a lifetime!
Sandy helped us plan a trip to Scotland in October, 2018. We wanted to experience life in the small towns as well as touching the cultural attractions in the larger cities. With a full time job and kids in transition i just did not have the time to do all the research. <br/>Super easy to work with, quick to respond and very very flexible. <br/>We had some thoughts about the hotels we wanted to stay in and she nailed down perfect places in each stop we made. Sandra was very helpful as we planned our first trip overseas to London. She was very patient as we made decisions on where we wanted to stay and what we wanted to do. She found us a wonderful apartment/hotel that was perfect for our needs. It had a wonderful view, located in a nice, quiet residential area, but just about a half-block from the underground, so we were only 20 minutes away from everything. The transportation she found to take us to and from the airport was fantastic. It seemed a bit pricey at first - but it was well worth every pound and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again! Our driver was polite, knowledgeable, and most of all, a lot of fun and helped us get our bearings as we traveled through the city to our hotel.<br/><br/>Most of our trip was "self-guided," and Sandra was very patient and helpful as we planned our activities. I would highly recommend Sandra to anyone looking for a great travel experience!

We really didn’t want to leave. Fascinating trip.
We wanted to return to South America to visit Patagonia, Iguazu Falls and Inca sites in Peru including Machu Picchu. Sandy worked with several agencies to present us with a twenty day trip to Argentina, Brazil and Peru. This trip included twelve flights totaling over 16,000 miles. Everything went off without any problems. There was always someone there for our transfers to the hotel and the airport. We were pleasantly surprised to find many of our tours were private tours. The hotels were very nice. It was a great experience and we didn’t want to come home. I was able to practice my Spanish with natives!

Amazing European River Cruise Experience
I want to thank Sandy for everything she did to make this incredible vacation a reality. It started with the United flight with those decadent Polaris seats. That was a wonderful experience! Trip of a lifetime!!
I know nothing about foreign travel. Sandra took care of everything for my trip to Paris and Nancy, France to visit the country and town of my mother's birth and childhood. Sandra found reasonable rates for the airfare and kept me on the same carrier for ease of travel. She placed me in a small, locally-owned, English-speaking hotel where she and her husband have stayed at several times. She arranged my tickets on the train to Nancy and bus tour to Versailles. She arranged transport to and from the airport to the hotel so I did not have to worry about transportation at either the start or end of my trip. She helped me with luggage requirements, how to get Euros, tipping, and travel around Paris. She arranged travel/medical insurance as I requested -just in case. Everything went fine and there were no problems, but she was available to me if I needed help during my trip. I would highly recommend Sandra's services for any trip - small or large!

Amazing travel memories
She is so nice and super friendly! Easy to work with and new exactly what we were looking for in our first experience to Europe. She was so helpful in all aspects of planning the trip. It was so nice having all of our hotels, train travel and airlines taken care. The transfers from one location to another were exactly as detailed in our paperwork. We will be using Sandy again next year for our travels on a cruise in the Mediterranean and including 6 days of travel to Austria and Germany!

Action packed with no surprises!
Sandy was terrific to work with. We planned an 18-19 day trip to various cities and countries in Europe and we stayed "incident free"! Hard to imagine when you are talking about flights, multiple trips by train, tours almost every day, hotels, etc. etc. etc. Fantastic experience, and I can't believe how smooth everything was. I was trying to book a 17 day trip through Italy on my own and was really struggling with things like where to start, where to end and how to book various trains etc. After not finding enough good info online I decided to call an agent out of the blue and was lucky enough to get in touch with Sandy. When I first called she spent about an hour on the phone with me asking all types of questions on what I and my wife liked to do. We eventually created a blue print for our trip then modified it a few times over the next week or two until we finally had everything planned out. <br/><br/>Sandy took care of all train, plane and automobile trips and everything went off without a hitch. She also helped with some experiences and lodging. It ended up being one of our favorite vacations. Some trips are easy to plan on your own and others are not. For those that are not is when using someone like Sandy will make not only the planning but also the vacation that much more enjoyable.

An Adriatic Dream Trip!
I feel so fortunate to have been invited on a yacht trip through Croatia—it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Everything was seamless and so thoughtfully planned, from the stunning yacht itself to the balance of exploring hidden coves, walking the charming coastal towns, and enjoying the most beautiful meals by the water.
What stood out most was how effortless it all felt. Every transfer, every reservation, every little detail was already taken care of, so all I had to do was be present and take it all in. The Adriatic was breathtaking, and each stop felt more special than the last.
This trip was beyond anything I could have imagined, and I know it wouldn’t have been the same without such incredible planning behind the scenes. Truly unforgettable.

Sandy helped us plan two back-to-back tours and gave us a lot of suggestions from packing to an invaluable MyTrip app to keep track of documents/daily agendas, etc all in one click! We contacted Sandy with a general idea of what we would like to do. 2 friends lived in one city, and the other in a different city. Sandra assisted in setting up a cruise thru Oceania from Barcelona to Athens. She recommended several tours outside of what Oceania offered and they were wonderful. Private tour to the ancient city of Euphasus, so much better than being in a large group. We spent 2 extra days in Athens after our cruise was over. Incredible experience. Sandra set up the transfers from the port to our hotel and hotel to the airport. We didn't have to worry about a thing. We stayed at the Electra Palace - Athens. Lovely hotel in the center of everything. We could walk every where. Staff was excellent. Roof top restaurant was wonderful. (For dinner and breakfast) You have a spectacular view of the Parthenon! Our favorite tour, of all time, was the Food Tour in Athens. It was just my husband and I, guided through the city by a wonderful guide. We learned so much about the Greek everyday life and customs. Extra bonus: the food was incredible at every stop.

An Amazing Experience in Europe!
We had a great time on our trip to Europe. We spent 20 days with 2 destinations each in Italy, Switzerland, Germany & Austria. We traveled by train, bus and car. Sandy helped us with our itinerary, suggesting hotels and experiences, and providing all of the reservations for travel and lodging. We stayed in some wonderful hotels, including one in Austria that was originally built in 1473! The excursions that Sandy suggested were exceptional! We particularly enjoyed the trip up Mt. Pilatus outside of Lucerne. We had a couple of glitches with transportation, but those were our own fault and only served to add to the adventure! :) Overall a wonderful experience!

Beautiful Family Time in Italy & Greece
Sandy helped us put together a great family experience through Italy and Greece. She proposed unique ideas to our itinerary, kept pace on budgetary desires while balancing complexity in travel intineary. While we were traveling we had a couple small hiccups due to flight cancellations or train strikes and Sandy made herself available (even at horrible local hours for her) to brainstorm solutions, advocate with vendors, and help us keep within our goals. Sailing in Greece was an absolute highlight for my teens. Thank You!

Great Women's Trip
“Sandy - The trip was a trip of a lifetime. Starting from the hotel in Athens, everything you planned made each city special. I enjoyed the Santorini tour, winery luncheon, the cooking class on the last day. I appreciated the flexibility of the group and opportunity to be included in the dinners or not. I, personally, found all of the tasks manageable but know with the heat and terrain some were difficult for certain members of the group. Turkey was fabulous and our guide was amazing but the confusion amongst the three individual guides in returning our groups to the bus was the only thing in my opinion that went wrong and again, the fault of the three guides communicating and understanding the traffic at their port. I really enjoyed the ship and didn't mind at all the fast pace of the cruise as I like to take it all in when I arrive in a new city and don't need a lot of down time personally. I don't have a bad thing to say

Wonderful travels with friends
Sandy was a very attentive and patient agent working with me traveling to Scotland and Ireland via the Azamara Cruise. This was our first time sailing with Azamara and did not know what to expect but all was smooth and absolutely fun! Sandy was knowledgeable about the different ports we visited and gave us pointers to which places to visit. After our initial airline cancellation of our flight, Sandy was right there fixing it for us and made our trip perfect. All future plans will be through Sandy and her office.

Amazing European Vacation.
Sandy was awesome to work with. She helped us create the perfect Europe trip to Barcelona —> Sorrento —> Santorini —> Paris. This trip was everything we wanted and more. “We had a great time! The H10 London was very accommodating. Air conditioning in our first room wasn't working and it was hot. We were moved to a new room for one night and when they couldn't fix the air in our original room we were then moved to a different room. The breakfast in the hotel was also great. Then on the way to Ireland our flight was canceled due to a computer outage at our connecting to Heathrow. Sandy helped guided us through that process and missed tours in Ireland.

Sandy spent the last year working with us to organize a WYD pilgrimage through Spain and Portugal for a group of 44. We had a very detailed itinerary and it was very customized. Egypt/Jordan - Once in a Lifetime Trip!
In one word...Wonderful! There were 6 of us traveling together coming from 4 different states. She coordinated our flights so we could meet up in London and then fly together to Cairo. She also got us a great price for our airline tickets! We wanted to do an excursion that was not on the agenda, and she quickly got with her contacts and arranged a spectacular camel ride. We had such a great experience with our camel guides. Our trip was fantastic. Friendly and knowledgeable Egyptologists, drivers, security personnel, and river boat personnel. Sandy planned our 30th Anniversary trip for us. We wanted to eliminate some of the stress of planning and focus on celebrating a significant milestone. Simply, Sandy is AMAZING & you need to use her for your next trip. We spent a month traveling all over Italy, Slovenia, & Croatia. Initially we were only traveling to Italy but after meeting Sandy she suggested the other 2 countries & I am so glad! Some of our best memories were in a place we didn’t even considering going. Sandy has helped us plan two trips to Europe, including five countries and eight different cities. Both trips exceeded our expectations. She has obtained both ground and air transportation and booked our hotels (which have all been fabulous and in great parts of the area). She takes the time to learn about what we like/don't like and helps us plan activities in our destinations that are in line with our interests. Most importantly for us, she explains how we navigate our experience in a foreign country where we don't speak the language - such as telling us how to get to the train station, when to avoid taxis that could rip us off, how to avoid lines, where to exchange our currency. Extrordinary Service for Ordinary People
Ordinary Travel and I began planning for my adventure before my knee joint replacement surgery. Starting early, this would provide something to look forward to during the physical therapy needed following surgery. Sandy swayed me from my original destination, Florence, Italy, to touring Turkey appealing to my sense of adventure and engaging in new experiences. What a wonderful suggestion that she has brought to reality despite my fumbling attempts to "help". And there were adventures even during the setting up stage, first came a tour cancelled by the operator then a second surgery to replace a shoulder (I do not mind growing old, it is the falling apart that annoys me) delaying the start by a month.
The resources used by Ordinary Couple Travel are impressive, quickly gathering together options and executing the ones chosen. Then quickly adapting to changes all the while with professionalism, courtesy and increasing the depth of our emerging friendship.
Of particular note was Sandy providing "thumbnail" sketches of the places I would be visiting, recommendations for local tours and operators and most useful suggestions on how to deal with trivia such as using local transport (taxis, buses) instead of expensive tour operator arranged transport.
My first experience planning with a professional was impressive, helpful in discovering new venues and delightful in that I will truly enjoy the results of her attending to details that would not even occur to me.

Sandy went above and beyond for us. I took my mother on a cruise of the baltic. We saw Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia and Latvia. We took this trip in July and the weather was perfect. Every place we turned looked like a post card. I had never used a travel agent before as I feel pretty computer savvy and have usually booked all of my trips myself from travel web sites. After using Sandy, I will never book a large trip with out her. She anticipated every detail of the trip such as transfers and need for Visas in certain areas. In saying she has been to the places we don't just mean just the destination, we mean the hotels she's recommending, the restaurants, the activities. Sandy built a trip for us to Ireland and the places we stayed at, the villages she encouraged us to visit, and the sites we saw made this an unforgettable vacation. We stayed in Adare, a beautiful village in central Ireland and she arranged a rental car for us along with day trip itineraries for 5 days based out of Adare. We also spent time in Dublin before transferring to Adare. She made the trip extremely easy and her knowledge of Ireland was spot on. Great trip!

Wonderful experience planning a trip for our work
Our work group of 11 (plus spouses) wanted to do a fun trip together. We looked into options and had so many questions about how to make something like this possible with so many people. Once we started working with Sandy things became so much easier! She took all of our many questions and specific requests on with no problem. We changed our minds several times and she handled everything so smoothly. Could have never planned this trip without Sandy!
I have tried planning trips to foreign countries on my own and have always ended up regretting certain decisions I've made. For the first time, I thought I'd use a travel agent. Sandy was referred to me by a friend, and I wasn't sure what to expect. As it turned out, Sandy took the time to figure out the kinds of things we like to do (hike, not lay on a beach, that sort of thing). She quickly went to work helping us plan an itinerary and finding us reasonable hotels that met our needs for a good bed and a decent price. When I had questions, Sandy responded almost immediately. Delightful accommodations!
Sandy has helped us plan and secure arrangements for several European visits. We were delighted with the small, charming, friendly hotels she found for us. Sandy specializes in finding these unique and memorable paces to fit within our budget. We really appreciate that she personally contacts each hotel to verify and confirm the arrangements.
Sandy also helped us save us money on car rentals and suggested we take our own GPS device for driving directions (make sure your GPS has the detailed European maps if you do this). Bucket List Trip!
Wonderful Experience. Great attention to details. This was our first trip to Europe and Sandy provided such great service right from the start. Airline tickets and advice on how and when to upgrade our seats along with the transportation to hotel and river boat. Suggestion on which cabins might work better for us. Sandy is the nicest person to talk with over the phone. She always makes you feel like you are the most important client of hers. I plan trips for 50+ and she has set up all the lodging for 2 of my trips. She has helped tremendously and got me a better price than I would have gotten otherwise.
She is also well traveled herself and has had many unique experiences that she is in tune with her clients needs and can recommend a broad range. She has written a really neat book about those experiences called "Extraordinary Travels of an Ordinary Couple." It really shows you that you don't have to be rich or special to have amazing travel experiences and even eat with a princess.
If you are looking for a cookie cutter same old, same old kind of tour look online, but if you want a memory of a lifetime...call Sandy.

My husband and I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to work with Sandra! We found Sandra online and after reading her great reviews, called her to help us book some site tours while we were visiting Italy. We had planned our trip ourselves, and all though Sandra explained that she normally worked with clients on planning their entire trip / package, not excursions only...she offered to meet with us and share some ideas with us. She was so very helpful, personable, and kind! She offered great advice, tips, and insight we could not have gotten otherwise. She did indeed help us with a tour of ancient Rome that she felt would be just right for us. It was amazing! Shortly after our initial meeting with Sandra, I decided to treat my children and grand-kids to a special Christmas vacation in Mexico. Great Trip
In the Fall of 2013 my wife and I attended a seminar led by Sandy called ... "Extraordinary Travel for Ordinary People." Later I bought and read the book bearing the same title written by Sandy. What I saw and read led my wife and I to ask Sandy to plan a trip for us to London and Paris. We were not dis-appointed by what she arranged. We got to see and experience parts of France that other people only dream about. This past September we had Sandy arrange another trip for us to Europe. Once again, we were not dis-appointed. Sandy hooked us up with a Tour that took us to Munich, Prague, Budapest, Vienna & Salzburg called "Imperial Splendors." She has planned two trips for me---a girls beach trip to Mexico and a 2 week trip to Italy for my husband and I. Extraordinary Travel for Ordinary People
Sandy has arranged two trips for me. The first, involving international travel, the second domestic. I have reviewed her efforts for travel to Turkey elsewhere. But the second was for dull boring travel between Windsor and Portland, OR that circumstances dictated occur with only a few days notice. I talked with her on a Monday (as I recall) and by Wednesday she had developed options for air travel, rental car and hotel, discussed them with me and completed the reservations.
The trip went well, in part because of suggestions by Sandy that, for example, I pay additional to arrange earlier boarding on SWA and finding an in airport rental car agency as cheap as those off airport.
One delightful surprise was the Crowne Plaza hotel in Portland was ritzy enough that no continental breakfast was offered. But, because of that, I discovered that breakfast can be as enjoyable as dinner in a quality restaurant. Too often in our rush we grab something off the buffet and are on our way losing that comfortable start to the day.

Easy Scandinavia
I've traveled extensively and until this trip had never used a travel agent. I like to do my own research and plan my own time. However, recent medical issues had made concentrating on anything for more than a few minutes very difficult. Having met Sandy at an event at our library I decided to give her a call. I explained my situation, likes and dislikes, time frame and budget.
Sandy called me back promptly and said even though she knew I preferred a "go it alone" route that there was a group tour that fit my needs as far as timing and cost. After more questions and discussion I decided to sign up for the tour and just book my flights to arrive 5 days early and stay 5 days after the tour. The tour worked out wonderfully, although i struck out on my own in the major cities; Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen and Stockholm. As I was traveling as a single I would not have been able to rent a car or book hotels at a competitive rate to what the tour offered.
As my plans were fluid about what to do after the group tour ended I emailed Sandy 2 days before the end asking her to book additional nights in a hotel for me which she did and promptly emailed me back.
In the future we will use Sandy unless (and even sometimes when) we are traveling to a place we are very familiar with.

Ordinary Travel and I began planning for my adventure before... my knee joint replacement surgery. Starting early, this would provide something to look forward to during the physical therapy needed following surgery. Sandy swayed me from my original destination, Florence, Italy, to touring Turkey appealing to my sense of adventure and engaging in new experiences. What a wonderful suggestion that she has brought to reality despite my fumbling attempts to "help". And there were adventures even during the setting up stage, first came a tour cancelled by the operator then a second surgery to replace a shoulder (I do not mind growing old, it is the falling apart that annoys me) delaying the start by a month.
The resources used by Ordinary Couple Travel are impressive, quickly gathering together options and executing the ones chosen. Then quickly adapting to changes all the while with professionalism, courtesy and increasing the depth of our emerging friendship.
Of particular note was Sandy providing "thumbnail" sketches of the places I would be visiting, recommendations for local tours and operators and most useful suggestions on how to deal with trivia such as using local transport (taxis, buses) instead of expensive tour operator arranged transport.
My first experience planning with a professional was impressive, helpful in discovering new venues and delightful in that I will truly enjoy the results of her attending to details that would not even occur to me.
