European Travel and River Cruise Specialist

My passion lies in crafting unique trips to Europe, especially to Germany, where I lived for 8 years.

You have a picture in your mind about where you want to go. Are you hiking through a meadow in the shadow of the Alps? Are you dancing to the oompah bands during Oktoberfest with a liter of beer in your hand? Maybe you’re sipping wine on a slow-moving river cruise surrounded by castles or shopping the famous Nuremberg Christmas market. At Trish York Travel, I want to get you into that picture.

Maybe you don’t know where to begin. Or maybe you’ve spent several days researching and you’re overwhelmed. Whether you’re fulfilling your own dream or balancing the ideas of several traveling companions, talk to me. I’ll listen. And I’ll put my experience and connections to work designing a unique trip you’ll remember – long after you return.

Trish York Travel is a full-service travel company specializing in custom trips to Europe and beyond. When you work with me, you receive something special – a unique experience, created just for you. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone birthday or anniversary, researching your family’s European roots, or want to add a little more adventure to the start or end of a cruise, let me take care of the details. Planes, trains, castles, cruises, chocolate, wine, art, music, beer - share with me what you dream of experiencing and I’ll make it happen.

My passion lies in designing personalized itineraries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Often those itineraries include Italy or a river cruise through Europe. Prior to launching Trish York Travel, I spent more than 15 years in international public relations traveling the world, including eight years living in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, Germany. I have a local’s perspective – backed up by top-flight international travel partners and current contacts on the ground.

I continue to travel to Europe every chance I get. I want to experience a destination, hotel, cruise or tour before I recommend it to you. I know and love this part of the world – and want to share it with you.

These days, it’s easy to book travel on your own. But crafting a travel experience that gets every detail just right – and gives you the peace of mind to actually look forward to your trip? That’s still a job for a professional. Let me put my contacts, experience and passion to work, professionally crafting your custom European trip.

Germany's most famous castle - Neuschwanstein

Germany Specialist

My love for Germany goes back to the 7th grade when I took my first German class in middle school. I loved learning about the German traditions that were so different from my own and learning Christmas carols like Silent Night and O Christmas Tree in German. As I continued my German classes into high school and college, I struggled over the complicated grammar but always loved the vocabulary sheets with pictures of 100 different items we had to name – using the correct gender and spelling, of course. By the time I had the opportunity to live and work in Germany as a young adult I had an amazing vocabulary consisting mostly of nouns like chair, table, and telephone, as well as all the colors and days of the week but was completely useless when it came to a conversation! Luckily my colleagues were patient and spoke some English.

Packing up and moving to a foreign country is not for the faint of heart. Soon after I arrived in Germany on a one year contract that would turn into eight, it was clear I had been bitten by the travel bug so I set out to explore my new home and the countries surrounding it. I started small from my base in Düsseldorf then expanded my travels after moving to Frankfurt and later Stuttgart. Who knew Germany would have such diverse cities? I loved the multinational feel of Frankfurt, the village-like atmosphere of Stuttgart, the elegance of Munich and the grittiness of Berlin. Exploring smaller towns like Trier, Rothenburg, Esslingen and Lindau on Lake Constance, the university towns of Heidelberg and Tübingen and the wine towns like Rüdesheim and Bacharach were always a treat. The former East German cities of Leipzig and Dresden look more and more like their western counterparts now but in the early 1990s you could still see the contrast between east and west.

There’s so much to see, do and experience in Germany that it can be difficult to determine where to go. You can easily spend your entire vacation just exploring Bavaria or a week in Berlin visiting museums and soaking up history. You can plot your way along the Fairytale Route or the Romantic Road. You can focus on the castles and palaces of Mad King Ludwig of Neuschwanstein Castle fame. There are lakes and rivers and the sea just waiting to be explored along with mountains and forests. There’s the famous Oktoberfest and many small wine festivals if you want to get off the beaten path. You can trace your family roots and understand the path of emigrants by visiting the Emigration Center in Bremerhaven or Hamburg’s Ballinstadt. If this all sounds confusing, a travel advisor specializing in Germany can help you hone in on your priorities, narrow down your options and then find the perfect destinations, hotels, and activities to ensure you will have a trip to remember.

Trish helped plan our trip from start to finish and that was not an easy task. We were limited by time and dates and specific things we wanted to do.

Every detail was worked out and every single step went smoothly.

Trish followed up regarding every detail and our trip was fantastic.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Trish to coordinate and arrange a trip for my Mom and I to Cambridge and then southern France. My mom and I were a bit all over the place in the early stages of planning this trip and Trish really helped us focus on one region in France so we could truly enjoy ourselves and maximize our stay. My mom wanted to take the train all the way from Cambridge to the south of France - it was so seamless and easy and I know neither my Mom nor I could have handled all those logistics on our own. Also, we had the most amazing hotel in Avignon, France that I still cannot get over - it was perfect. Our trip to the Provence Region of France was amazing! My Mom and I have now decided to visit Portugal in May and Trish is helping us plan that trip as well!
Sara Kate - Avignon ~ France ~ Europe
Trish provided excellent recommendations and exceeded our expectations on following up with each hotel before arrival making sure all the details were taken care of. From the planning, booking, and execution of the trip it all went smooth. We could not have done it by ourselves.
