My name is Leah Joyner. I am a passionate adventurer and the founder of Jetsy Travel, a travel service dedicated to helping people explore, appreciate, and fully enjoy the world around us. I believe travel and experiencing the world is an essential part of life.
I grew up in Molo, a small town in the Kenyan Rift Valley. My family moved to Atlanta, GA while I was a teenager. Although Georgia has been home for more than half of my life, I regard myself as a “child of the world”. Rather than belonging to one place I always feel an immediate familiarity and even a sense of nostalgia whenever I visit a new country.
My passion for travel began with my first trip to Saint John, U.S. Virgin Islands. I vividly remember the excitement and pleasure I felt while discovering the many excursions and possibilities that awaited us while I planned for my wedding on this beautiful island. The beauty of St. John, and the freedom I felt getting up every morning from our bungalow and driving the rented jeep to a new beach, or to a local eatery, made me feel so alive. I developed this urge and desire to experience the world as much as I possibly could.
Fast forward several years, and I am a single mom raising two amazing children who have become my best friends. The first time I packed up to travel alone with them, I was terrified! I was not sure if I could manage a 3 and a 7-year old on the 4.5-hour drive from Atlanta to Folly Beach, SC without any mishaps. Would I be able to put up the beach umbrella? Would I be able to take the downtown trolley to the Charleston Children’s Museum, without getting lost? Well I managed to do all these things and more, and with the help of my kids. Not only was this trip empowering, I now look forward to spending this quality time with my kids more than ever and seeing the world through their eyes. We have travelled together within the US, where we have endless possibilities right in our backyard, to Amsterdam, Africa, and Trinidad and Tobago. These trips nourish my soul and I look forward to them each year.
One thing that makes every trip special is taking the time to plan. I enjoy spending the time researching a destination and seeking memorable cultural experiences. I also like to be prepared so I know what travel documentation is required for each country and any applicable safety measures that need to be taken. While this might not be for everyone, I have found that doing the background research allows me to have a fun and relaxing trip with my children.
My love of travel has inspired me to become a Travel Agent and help others with their travel planning. I welcome the opportunity to help you create a life changing experience wherever you want to go in the world!
